1999 Ford Explorer Transmission No Reverse. The rest of the other gears work. July 4 2016. The vehicle move in drive but does not move in reverse. Tuesday December 22nd 2020 AT 844 AM Merged.
Maintenance Repair the transmission in my Explorer was working perfectly and one day I missed a turn-off and put it in reverse. The truck will start but when i put it into drive or reverse the engine just revs up and the truck doesnt move. Sure you heard a pop. I have a 1999 Ford Explorer and the reverse went out in it. These usually have valve body gasket problems that effect low and reverse. Drives fine and shifts well just no reverse.

Have a 2001 ford explore it will not go back in reverse there was a bang that came from the rear before it happened at times it will go into gear but the problem i know is in the transmission Answer. I have a 2000 Ford Explorer XLT with a 40 L SOHC with 4WD 5R4455E trans all my forward gears shift up shift and down shifts smoothly automatically and manually smoothly but I have no reverse it sounds like it tries to move I can hear and feel it try but it will not back up.
